Suzanne Pleshette Diagnosed with Lung Cancer
Actress Suzanne Pleshette, 69, has been diagnosed with early stage lung cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
The cancer, discovered during a routine X-ray, is the size of "a grain of sand and was caught very much in time," said agent Joel Dean. "She feels very lucky. ... She's not concerned and in great spirits."
Pleshette is best known for her role as Emily Hartley on The Bob Newhart Show. One of her most famous film appearances was in Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, in which she played schoolteacher Annie Hayworth. In 2001, she married former Bob Newhart Show co-star Tom Poston. It is her third marriage - her first marriage was to Troy Donohue and her second to Thomas Gallagher.
