The Latest on the Britney Spears Saga

Since we last posted that Britney Spears had checked into Promises rehab in Malibu (for the first time), she did the following in the span of 15 hours:

Checked out of Promises after less than 24 hours.

Tried to enter a tattoo shop but it was closed.

Visited the Bel Air Hotel wearing the same blonde wig she'd worn a couple days earlier.

Went to ex Kevin Federline's house to see her two sons (Federline has had custody of them for the past week). He wouldn't let her see the kids and she reportedly got upset.

Took an umbrella and smashed a paparazzo's car as well as the paparazzo himself, who was left marked by the incident.

Was driven back to Promises rehab by her mother, where she remains for now.

All of the above happened between 8am on Wednesday, when she checked out of rehab, and 10:30pm the same night, when she re-entered rehab.

In other Britney news, her manager Larry Rudolph is denying a story in the National Enquirer that she attempted suicide the night she shaved her head. He told tv show Extra:

“The story is absolutely untrue. She is in rehab, and it is very disappointing that various media outlets are running these false stories about her, as Britney tries to get better.”

Britney Spears has entered rehab in Los Angeles just a day after hitting the town with a cheap blonde wig covering her newly bald head. Her family reportedly staged an intervention and convinced her to seek treatment.

She entered rehab over Valentine's Day and stayed for only 24 hours. Let's hope she stays and gets the help she needs this time.

Her manager said: "Britney Spears has voluntarily checked herself into an undisclosed rehab facility," Rudolph's statement, released to Access, read. "We ask that the media respect her privacy as well as those of her family and friends at this time."

Pete Doherty Drug Saga Continues

Just a couple days after reports that Pete Doherty and girlfriend Kate Moss had checked into rehab together so that Moss could be there to support him in his recovery, Kate has reportedly broken up with him after a video surfaced of Doherty shooting up cocaine in the Thai hostel room of three female fans.

Around him on a bed was strewn sordid drugs paraphernalia of a spoon and syringes, plus scattered banknotes in British, US and Thai currency ... He clasped a mobile between head and shoulder as concerned model Kate asked him where he was and what he was doing.

Lindsay Lohan has checked into rehab and has issued the following statement:

"I have made a proactive decision to take care of my personal health," the star said in her statement. "I appreciate your well wishes and ask that you please respect my privacy at this time."

She is rumored to be receiving treatment at the Wonderland Center in Los Angeles.

Lindsay Lohan is reportedly attending AA meetings in L.A. Her spokesperson Leslie Sloane-Zelnik said: "Yes, Lindsay has been attending meetings. It'll be a slow process."

However, according to many reports Lohan is still drinking heavily and even went on a drunken tirade at the GQ Men Of The Year Dinner.

Robin Williams, 55, spoke with Diane Sawyer about his battle with alcoholism. The actor says his relapse after 20 years of sobriety was a gradual thing.

"It's [addiction] — not caused by anything, it's just there," Williams said. "It waits. It lays in wait for the time when you think, 'It's fine now, I'm OK.' Then, the next thing you know, it's not OK. Then you realize, 'Where am I? I didn't realize I was in Cleveland.'"

Keane singer Tom Chaplin, 27, is being treated for alcohol and drug problems. The band recently cancelled shows in Scotland and Ireland due to what was at the time reported as Chaplin's exhaustion. Their North American tour has also been postponed. Chaplin posted a statement on the band's website:

“I’ve been having to deal with an increasing problem with drink and drugs, and the time has come to get the professional help I need to sort myself out.

“I feel desperately disappointed to be letting down our fans but I want to get myself right now so that I can be back on the road for the rest of the year.”

Haley Joel Osmant Breaks Rib, Charged with DUI

Haley Joel Osment suffered a broken rib in his recent car accident while driving under the influence of alcohol. Hopefully he isn't starting down the self-destructive path of so many other child stars.

Osment was charged with driving under the influence and possession of marijuana while driving. He was also charged with driving with a 0.05 percent blood alcohol content while being younger than 21, said the Times.

Robin Williams Enters Rehab for Alcoholism

Robin Williams, 55, has checked into rehab for alcoholism. The actor had been sober for 20 years before falling off the wagon. Some sources claim he began drinking again about three years ago.

Williams "found himself drinking again and has decided to take proactive measures to deal with this for his own well-being and the well-being of his family," [publicist Mara Buxbaum] said in a statement.

Mel Gibson was arrested in Malibu on suspicion of drunk driving on Friday night. Mel allegedly got so "out of control" that he was hurling anti-Semitic epithets at the arresting officers. Mel, who has stated in the past that his battle with alcoholism once nearly caused him to jump out a window, issued an apology and statement today:

"After drinking alcohol on Thursday night, I did a number of things that were very wrong and for which I am ashamed. I drove a car when I should not have, and was stopped by the LA County Sheriffs. The arresting officer was just doing his job and I feel fortunate that I was apprehended before I caused injury to any other person. I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested, and said things that I do not believe to be true and which are despicable. I am deeply ashamed of everything I said. Also, I take this opportunity to apologize to the deputies involved for my belligerent behavior. They have always been there for me in my community and indeed probably saved me from myself. I disgraced myself and my family with my behavior and for that I am truly sorry. I have battled with the disease of alcoholism for all of my adult life and profoundly regret my horrific relapse. I apologize for any behavior unbecoming of me in my inebriated state and have already taken necessary steps to ensure my return to health."

Pete Doherty Checks Back Into Rehab

Babyshambles lead singer Pete Doherty has cancelled a concert on the Spanish island of Ibiza and is heading back to rehab. The singer is battling severe drug addiction and recently told a judge that he planned to get a Naltrexone implant to curb his addiction.

'We were all really looking forward to welcoming Babyshambles back to the island this year for Ibiza Rocks but, at the end of the day, we love and support Pete and it's his health and happiness that are important,' [his publicist Andy] McKay said.

Actor Jason Mewes Sober for Three Years

Jason Mewes, the actor best known for his role as Jay of the Jay and Silent Bob duo in the Kevin Smith films "Clerks," "Mallrats," "Chasing Amy," "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back," and "Dogma," has been sober and free of drugs for over three years. Mewes, 32, who filmed all of his first movies while under the influence of drugs, found filming "Clerks II" while sober more enjoyable.

"In the past, I was always ready to just bolt out and get high," Mewes recalls. "If we'd do two takes, I'd go, 'Dude, that's fine.' Really, I didn't know if it was fine, but in my head I just wanted to go back to my trailer to do more drugs. "The big difference this time was I was waking up early and looking forward to working. And I'd hang out after."

Pete Doherty Continues to Battle Heroin Addiction

Troubled Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty, 27, told a judge in court that he plans to get a Naltrexone implant in his abdomen. Doherty, who dated model Kate Moss, has openly used heroin and cocaine for years. He has had Naltrexone implants in the past but has always gone back to using drugs. Naltrexone blocks opioid receptors in the brain, thereby taking the pleasure out of opiate drugs and removing the reason to take them in the first place. Let's hope Pete does better this time around.

District Judge Jane McIvor said that even though Doherty has impressed his doctors with his progress she is still waiting for his first negative test result, but she did recommend that he only be drug tested once a week, rather than twice a week, the Sky News report said.

Meanwhile, Sylvain Sylvain, former New York Dolls guitarist and cousin to fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi, has warned Doherty to stop taking heroin. He warned that it would take his life just like it took bandmate Johnny Thunders back in 1991:

He got married to heroin. "It's a shame because he was the best songwriter I ever met." He adds of BABYSHAMBLES frontman Doherty, "I see a lot of Johnny in that kid. He's a great talent. "But heroin will take him away from the songs just like Johnny, because she is a bitch and that's what she does."

"You know, New York has a pub on every corner and it doesn't matter if you're a musician or you have a regular job; at the end of the day, everybody ends up at the pub, I keep telling people: 'Don't make me the poster boy for AA because I don't know a lot about sobriety, but I do know a lot about drinking."
