Rat Pack Comedian Joey Bishop Dies

Rat Pack comedian Joey Bishop has died at home in Newport Beach, California at the age of 89. He was the last surviving member of the Rat Pack which included Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr.,and Peter Lawford.

Referred to by Sinatra as the "Hub of the Big Wheel" and "Speaker of the House" for his role as the Rat Pack's emcee, Bishop was one of the few who could get away with zinging the "Chairman of the Board" in public, even joking about Sinatra's long-rumored ties to organized crime.

Bishop's publicist says he died of multiple causes. His wife, Sylvia Ruzga, whom he married In 1941, died in 1999. Their only son, Larry Bishop, is a successful actor and screenwriter.
