Bo Diddley Dead at 79

Legendary musician Bo Diddley has died of heart failure at the age of 79.

He had suffered a stroke and heart attack in August and was at home in Florida undergoing speech rehabilitation.

Diddley sang, played guitar, and wrote songs. He was known for his rectangular guitar and the "Bo Diddley beat." He was an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and in 1999 he received a lifetime achievement Grammy Award.

Regis Philbin to Undergo Triple Bypass Surgery

Regis Philbin, 75, announced today on "Live with Regis and Kelly" that he will be undergoing triple bypass surgery this week. After experiencing shortness of breath and chest pain, doctors examined him and told him the surgery was necessary.

Philbin said he was hoping to have angioplasty because "you know, you get in _ bang, bang, bang _ they blow it open and you leave the next day." But, he said, "there's some plaque in some arteries and I've got to get it cleaned out."

Don Ho Receives New Pacemaker

Don Ho, 76, is recovering in Honolulu from surgery to have a new pacemaker installed.

The 'Tiny Bubbles' singer made news back in December when he underwent a procedure called VesCell Stem Cell Therapy in Thailand to strengthen his heart muscle.

"The new pacemaker has two wires instead of one, one going into each chamber of my heart," Ho told the Honolulu Star-Bulletin. "They also put in a kind of balloon deal to keep my heart pumping while they did the operation."

Justice Anthony Kennedy Receives Stent

Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy has returned to work after receiving a stent on Saturday. He was experiencing mild chest pain and there was no evidence of heart damage. He was discharged Sunday morning.

The court called the procedure a revision to the stent doctors put in Kennedy in November. The justice did not make his health news public at the time.

Three days after receiving a cardiac pacemaker, former president Gerald Ford has undergone an angioplasty at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He is resting comfortably.

Stents were placed in two of his coronary arteries to increase blood flow during the procedure performed Thursday, according to the statement from Penny Circle, Ford's spokeswoman.

Kenneth Lay Dies of Heart Attack

Kenneth Lay, 64, died suddenly of a heart attack while on vacation in Aspen, Colorado. Lay, the founder of Enron Corp., had been convicted of fraud and conspiracy on May 25 and was scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 23.

Pastor Steve Wende of Houston's First United Methodist Church, said Lay seemed healthy when he attended services in Houston on Sunday, and even believed God may have had a purpose for him in prison.
"He was very much at peace with his future, he had a perspective on what had happened, he even bore no ill will for the jury or all of the people who might want to say terrible things about him," Wende said.
