Actress Jane Wyman Dies at 93
Actress Jane Wyman has died in Palm Springs of undisclosed causes. She was 93. In recent years, her health had been declining and she suffered from diabetes and arthritis.
Wyman was Ronald Reagan's first wife. She filed for divorce from him in 1948, the day after she won an Oscar for her role in Johnny Belinda. She said of their marriage: "Politics built a barrier between us. I tried to make his interests mine, but finally there was nothing to sustain our marriage." Ronald Reagan is the only U.S. president to have been divorced.
Wyman and Reagan adopted a son, Michael Reagan, and had a biological daughter, Maureen Reagan, who died of melanoma in 2001.
Michael Reagan released the following statement after her death: "I have lost a loving mother, my children Cameron and Ashley have lost a loving grandmother, my wife Colleen has lost a loving friend she called Mom and Hollywood has lost the classiest lady to ever grace the silver screen."
